“Year of the Cicada”
Here is an original composition for harp guitar by Dave Powell. This tune showcases some fancy sub bass work with a bluesy feel and is featured on the newest Harp Guitar Music CD release: “Further Beyond Six Strings.”
This version is played on the newest Tonedevil S12HG harp guitar, recorded in stereo with 2 condenser mics (a small diaphram Shure SM81 and a large diaphram Rode NT1 condenser) with minimalistic post production. So what you hear in this video is very accurate to what this instrument sounds like acoustically.
Of course Dave’s tuning is somewhat of a hybrid Dyer tuning, instead of starting the first harp string at a D, he starts at a C, then B, A, G, E, D, so you have the D as the lowest string. The guitar is tuned to standard E.
