Tops all clamped up
Today we got 3 tops glued on. After leveling the sides with the kerfing they were ready to accept the spruce tops. With our Spanish heel neck design this is a Tricky step to make sure the top fits precisely in the notch we cut in the neck block. We have discussed a different type of neck joint that will make assembly easier. Not only does a Spanish heel make a guitar tough bind and apply finish but with a harp guitar it is even more difficult with the harp arm in the way also.
We have gotten used to this method of construction and are very happy with the sound results and integrity of the instrument so we will not likely be changing the design any time soon.
