This is a design I worked on today for a custom order request for an inlay design on the 12th fret. It is based off a drawing Michael Hedges had used on one of his albums and has always been an icon associated with him.
It is our pleasure to be able to incorporate one of these designs into our harp guitars. We don’t usually offer any kind of inlay but since I have had a special appreciation for Michael Hedges’ music and the fans he still has, I decided to take on this project and see what cool inlay we can do with it.
Our idea so far is to route out the spiral and arrows in the rosewood fingerboard after the fret slots are cut in, then inlay square stock silver wire that is the same width and depth as the routed channel. This will be a job we contract out to our jewler friend who did our silver smithed logo design a few months back. Hopefully all goes well and we can get a good method to do this job and may be able to offer more design upgrades on future instruments.
